Description | Background: The “Missionary of Charity” Nursery was opened in the premises owned by the Diocese of Macao on 3 March, 1993, within the area 538m2. The Sisters of the Missionary of Charity began its work with children of impoverished families in a small house at Guia Hill in 1983. By 1991, the Sisters moved to the premises of the former St. Paul’s Nursery at the Ilha Verde district where they founded the “Charity Home” Temporary Shelter for Women to take care of women beset by family problems and the “Missionary of Charity” Nursery for their children. Objectives: The Association/Organization puts the self-sacrificing spirit of Christ into practice, spreads the good news of Christ and is devoted wholeheartedly to aid brothers and sisters in need. It mainly attends to children from impoverished families and puts working parents at ease. Contents and Area: The service targets are the children of impoverished families. The nursery has an intake of 93 infant children aged 1 to 3 years old. It is supported and financed by donations from organizations and members of the public. Children are taken care by volunteered individuals and the Sisters. It provides free child care service to impoverished families of Macao. |
